The power of “BE-ing” + a freebie

Hello lovely readers! I was trying to think of a last fun Easter post that I could do to get us all ready for the big day. I could send you to all the past Easter posts on my site (there are plenty of them!), but then I ran across this quote last night and couldn’t get it out of my head!

Take a second to read this:

I have been craving a fun project for my kids and I to take on to help them learn about love, sacrifice and charity. We have talked and talked and talked about it, but haven’t done anything…UNTIL now!

I have found a family that needs some help. It is a sweet family with 4 children. The dad lost his main income recently and they have been struggling to meet their needs. I often wonder if there are ways that I can help others and THIS IS ONE WAY I CAN..with YOUR help! TODAY through SUNDAY, I am going to send 100% of ALL profits I make to this family. I have a shop FILLED with digital goodness..and even some Easter prints waiting to make your home a little happier. I will keep my sidebar on my site updated as to the progress we are making together. I know there are so many people out there struggling right now and I hope to be able to do little events like this more often.  I LOVE to have a good project, but this one requires your help as well. If you have ever thought of buying prints at all (think in the future too: holidays, babies, decorating, gifts, etc), I hope you will take the opportunity to buy some NOW and not only get some great prints, but help out a family as well!

My kids are getting in on the action too! They have been wanting to do a bake sale, so we are headed to the store to bake for the rest of the day and open up shop tomorrow. All of the proceeds will go to help out this family as well. I so want them to understand the principle of “BE-ing”, just as the quote above says.

The progress of this fundraiser will be updated regularly on my sidebar.

Will you help us make a difference?

There is no UP or DOWN in the Gospel {free printable} General Conference April 2014

Another favorite talk of mine from General Conference came from Dallin H. Oaks, who spoke in the priesthood session. Such a powerful talk about the power of the priesthood, the authority of the priesthood and the keys of the priesthood. With some controversy right now going on with a small group of women wanting the priesthood, it was a great reminder and lesson on how the priesthood works. There is another quote or two coming with this talk as well, so today I will talk for just a minute about the quote below:

There are so many people who believe that with certain callings comes prestige and power. I can tell you that there is nothing farther from the truth. The bishop and the Relief Society teacher are both needed to see a ward function properly and smoothly. The same goes for a scout leader, nursery leader and Elders Quorum President. One of my favorite things about the gospel is that there is a season for everything. When we LIVE and MAGNIFY whatever calling we are given, we are moving along the horizontal path that Elder Oaks talked about..we are moving forward or backward, not up and down according to our callings, but I think we can also look at this in our life circumstances as well. Everything we do, every decision that we make is moving us forward or backward. What are the things you are doing that can be changed to propel your life forward?

This print is an 8×10 print and comes in blue and pink.

Free General Conference Printables for Kids {free printable}

I am so excited for this weekend. This weekend is a chance that I (along with every other member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) gets to listen to the prophet and other leaders of our church speak. What do they talk about? How to build your faith, how to endure during trials of our life, how to build our marriages, and ALWAYS messages about our Savior, Jesus Christ. So we get to listen to two 2 hours sessions on Saturday and two 2 hour sessions on Sunday. It’s a lot of time, but SO uplifting and it fills my soul to listen and be inspired to be better.

So factor into those 8 hours of listening 5 kids and it sometimes becomes a crazy time. Today I thought I’d make those hours where the kids are listening a little easier on everyone with a few Free General Conference Games:

First, there is a Draw the Speaker game. There is both a male and female page. Have your kids draw what the speaker looks like. What color is the man’s tie? Does he wear glasses? Is the woman wearing a necklace? Is her hair long or short? For the younger crowd, this is probably as far as they can do alone, but help them write in the speaker’s name and ask them at the end of the talk what he/she talked about. Older kids can fill it all in by themselves. I can’t wait to see how my kids draw different speakers. :)

Next up is Conference Bingo. Now unlike a regular bingo where you would have multiple cards, this one has just one card, but the card has words that your child will listen for (they are written more than once on the card) so you can either play who can fill the line in first or for younger kids, 5 in a row, etc. You could also fill the card completely in. Use nuts, raisins, cereal, or small candies to mark the words heard.

Lastly is Color the Temple. I have 7 temples with their outlines, so your child can draw the defining features (or make their own) and color the temple in. I also have one blank page so your child can draw the temple that is closest to you!

I am so excited to see how you use these printables. (You could even use them for Sunday meetings to get your kiddos to listen). Each 6 months as general conference rolls around, I will be adding to these worksheets!  I will be posting my kids results on my INSTAGRAM page, where you can follow me and keep up with my family.
