repurposing. a townhouse village.

Do you remember when I did this…turning TRASH into TREASURE is so gratifying!  Well, today I am at it again.  This time was for a birthday gift for my 7 year old boy. Wow..does he have an imagination. He LOVES to play with stuffed animals. He gives them names..makes makeshift homes for them under his dresser, which have included a small Christmas tree, a wreath, a refrigerator, a bed, a shower…you get the picture!  I have a thing where I love to make at least one of the kids birthday gifts each year.  Call it a little motherly love they can hold on to. It took me awhile to figure out what to do for him, but then it came to me.
I started out with this:
and turned it into this:
A sweet little townhouse village for his little animals:
made from..cardboard box, paint, sharpies, clear vinyl, ribbon, and scraps of paper and packaging from other projects I have done.  I did not have to buy anything for this project..and I think that is the beauty of repurposing..you use what you have around!
a few of the details:
this is by far my favorite house…bricks, shutters, bright colors..you can’t go wrong!:)
oh..and a wood door:
The seafaring town house with port hole windows..and of course a bird..
the wreath over the front scalloped door:
The doors open..
and out come the animals..
and in the back of the house we have a cloud mural…
that when opened leads to the back yard:

with grass, clouds and a tree:
A townhouse made for my little prince..with hopefully a lot of play hours ahead.
And all for the grand cost of $0.
