i am 30 years old, married, with 3 beautiful children. i began working as a makeup artist and received tons of questions, “how do you do that?” “what brushes do you use?” “what colors work for me?” i figured i might as well start blogging to answer these questions which is how Blushing Basics began. i love using makeup as a medium and faces as my canvas. i embrace all things girl-y: makeup, hair, clothes, nails…you get the idea. i don’t consider myself an expert, but i am always trying to stay on top of the latest techniques and styles. if you ever have any questions or suggestions, please send me a note!
it’s that time of year again. the leaves start to change, the weather starts to cool, and new trends are emerging. now that my son has started school, i face the challenge of getting myself, and 3 children, dressed and out the door by 8:15 a.m. time is of the essence so i need ideas that are quick and easy.
here is a preview of some of the upcoming trends we will be seeing this fall.
plaid is back and it is a great look for that casual every day wear. we will be seeing plaids in everything from shoes to shirts. just a few pieces added to your wardrobe will go a long way. while plaid has been around before it is being update with new styling, i.e. tunics, dresses, roll sleeves. get your plaid on.
polka dots are pretty and a fun way to stay feminine. this trend will be easy to wear. find yourself a cute top to go with some skinnies or a scarf to dress up a plain tee. get a little riskier with some peep toe platform pumps.
last but not least:
when all else fails, stick to what you know best. i love putting on my stretchy jeggings with a white tee and whatever scarf i’m feeling at the moment. simply adding a scarf gives the vibe that you actually put a teeny bit of thought into what you are wearing that day. i like scarves simply for the fact that they make a plain outfit, not so plain anymore. most importantly, i am comfortable wearing this and i feel put together and confident.
whatever your go to is, look for ways you can make it current with this fall’s trends and go for it. as long as you feel beautiful, you will look beautiful.

kristie
