A few days ago, I shared another printable from Dieter F. Uchtdorf’s talk. Today is a second one that really had an impact on me:
I cannot tell you how grateful I am for this time of year that I have to remember the sacrifice that our Savior made for each of us. Because He suffered in Gethsemane and was crucified on the cross and willingly did that for me (and for you!), this statement that Elder Uchtdorf said is perfectly true. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, I also believe that through priesthood authority and by making promises in the temple, that I can be with my family for eternity. When I was married almost 12 years ago, my husband and I were sealed for eternity, not just until death do us part…and those promises have had a sweet effect on our relationship. Death is something that will come to each of us, regardless of what we do in this life, but because of the gift of our Savior, death is not a stopping point, but merely a progression from this life to the next.
I am so grateful for the truths of the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are sweet and simple. They are fulfilling to the soul. They help remind me of the purpose of this life and make me want to be just a bit better each day!
