I don’t know about you, but to me, one of my favorite things to do every four summers is go Olympic crazy! I so enjoy watching incredible athletes competing for their countries and to see the national pride soar! A few weeks ago I saw these fantastic shoes:
I have been thinking of them so much lately and loved the wings..and an idea hatched. How could I make them? I knew my kids would die when they saw them…and would make our festivities for the Olympics SO exciting. So I came up with some wings and country pride and this is what I did:
They are the sweetest things ever to see your kid “flying” down the street…showing their national pride:
And yes…even Max my baby will be decked out:
So sweet, right?! Now it is YOUR turn to DIY some Olympic Shoes.
You will need:
Dark T-shirt Transfer printable paper
felt (I used white and red)
hole punch
scissors
Print out the download on the transfer paper. Cut the design out. Take your shoe and mark on the wing or flag where the holes are. Hole punch a hole on each mark. Now take off the back paper and iron it onto the iron (follow directions on package). When cooled, cut out design and use the hole punch to punch through felt. Use scissors to cut any extra pieces off. Now just thread it through your shoe laces and you can celebrate the Olympics in style!
Note: I just put the U.S. flag on the design, but if you would like another to show your country’s pride, I’m sure you could find a lot on Google to just print out on the same paper!
I’d love to see YOUR Olympic shoe creations. Email me at kikicreates at gmail dot com with pics or upload them to my facebook page.:)
