Yesterday we made an Easter Bunny cupcake, today we are on to a little chick.
These little guys are SO fun to put together.
For the Little Chick you will need cupcakes, yellow buttercream frosting, yellow sprinkles, white non perils, a black edible marker and royal icing.
I LOVE the Wilton Royal Icing recipe:
- 3 tbsp Meringue Powder
-
4 cups (about 1 lb.) confectioners’ sugar
-
5 tablespoons warm water
Mix in a mixing bowl on medium speed for 4-5 minutes. Add color if desired. I added a titch of red and yellow for the orange and just plain yellow for the yellow and then bagged them up in decorating bags with a small round tip. On a piece of wax paper, pipe yellow wings. You can make them any shape you want, I went with triangles. Pipe the beaks and the feet with the orange. I actually made them all the same. Let these dry. The longer you let them dry, the stronger they will be. I let them set for 16 hours on one and about 3 on the other. Both were fine because these are smaller, but the longer sitting ones were definitely stronger. Peel them off the paper softly.
To decorate the cupcake:
-Spread yellow buttercream and add some Yellow Sprinkles.
-Add wings, feet and nose
-Use a small white non-peril and color a black circle on with an edible black marker. Place on chick.
-You are done! These Easter cupcakes are great for spring or any other chick worth event!
Cute, right?! And your kids will LOVE making them with you!
I hope you have the Happiest Easter around.
