DIY Heating and Cooling Pad {tutorial and free printable}

It’s December 1st! WOW…I am so excited for Christmas. One of my favorite things is to think of fun things to give my neighbors, teachers and friends in my life. A few years ago, a sweet girl came knocking at our door and gave us one of these and it was an instant hit and continues to be a big hit in my family! Today we will be making a super simple DIY Heating and Cooling Pad.

SUPPLIES:

fabric- You can make these any size you want. I have 2 sizes..a small rectangle (roughly 8″x12″) and a long, skinny rectangle (roughly 6″x 20″)

scissors

rice

essential oil- this is optional. if you want to infuse your rice with a smell, this is an easy way to do it

sewing machine

printable tag (at bottom of post)

DIRECTIONS:

To make these is super simple. You can either cut 2 identical rectangles per size you want or cut 1 rectangle doubled (so the 8″x12″ would be 16″x12″)

1-Put fabric right sides together and sew 3 sides shut. Cut corners and flip the pad to be right sides out.

2-Fill rice 1/2 way up your pad.

3- Fold top down and pin. Sew the top shut

4- You are done! Add the tag and give away!

5- To use the pads, simply microwave in 30 second intervals until the pad is nice and warm (but not too hot). Place on shoulders, head, legs, etc and FEEL RELAXED!  You can also put them in the freezer  to make into a cooling pad!

I hope you find the time to whip a few of these up. They are a perfect neighbor, teacher, and friend gift.
